Core rulebook patch 0.5.9 - Winding River


An old man calmly walks into a Prometheus industries branch office, as he passes a security checkpoint he explains that all he has is his walking stick and is allowed to pass for his appointment with the general manager. He enters the elevator flanked by two peacekeepers but as it arrives at its destination he exits alone, leaving both guards broken behind him. With nothing but his fists and Bo staff he plans to bring justice for his community no matter the cost.

After a whole lot of play-testing and a ton of suggestions from the discord community this update is finally ready !

Patch notes:

  • Added the Martial artist class, an agile melee attacker
  • Added the Bundar Species 
  • Added an assortment of narrative and general non-class items
  • Added an example for Ranged attacks and defense dice
  • Added an example for Melee attacks and parrying 
  • New narrative rule for using spells, abilities and the mend wounds action outside of combat 
  • Added The Ancients as a notable sub faction in the game's setting
  • The Injured rule has been changed to not reduce the movement range of the retreat action, this ruling was intended very early on and was overlooked.
  • A character can now only bring 6 Consumable items to a mission
  • Clarified the Indirect keyword
  • Wording was changed to better distinguish the Range characteristic as not being a keyword
  • Clarified BreachX as being a type of critical hit damage
  • Clarified the Explosive keyword as targeting characters in melee range
  • Nerf to the PoisonedX Keyword
  • Clarified that Passives do not count for equipment cost if no abilities from that class were picked
  • Buff to the Spring Vulpathian's ability 
  • Vulpathian infiltrator: Blink Boots passive rework
  • Vulpathian infiltrator: Stealth suit buff
  • Vulpathian infiltrator: Beguiling adversary Buff
  • Vulpathian infiltrator: helmet display price decrease 
  • Psionic: Sentimental momento buff
  • Enforcer: Nerfed Intimidating shout
  • Medic: First aid training buff
  • Medic: Med stims now only work once per turn
  • Bounty hunter: Jet pack price decrease
  • Roboticist: Clarified where stats for summons can be found (in the enemy book)
  • Roboticist: Nemesis droids now have the stackable keyword as was previously intended but overlooked
  • Hacker: Back door ability nerf
  • Witch: Bind rune talisman buff
  • Witch: Linen knot has been clarified to only work with the cast spell action
  • Witch: The Invocation of Bastet spell can no longer stack 
  • High Priest: Her maddening call rework 
  • High Priest: Clarified that the flaming horror can be found in the enemy book
  • High Priest: Nerfed the Miraculous reanimation spell 
  • Ronin: Great Waves Nerf
  • Hierophant: Her righteous blade Nerf
  • Hierophant: Nerfed the Pull down the stars spell
  • Gambler: Reworked the Roulette blade to be more fun
  • Rockstar: We're not gonna take it Nerf
  • Rockstar: Nerfed the Piper's melody spell

This update was probably the most extensive to date and I have out amazing Discord and IRL communities to thank for this, all of your playtesting and suggestions are the reason that I can bring Quasar towards being the best game it can be.
